2. Product Condition Disclosure
- All items sold by Pacific Powertrain are USED, pulled from vehicles in Japan. They are not new, not remanufactured, and not rebuilt.
- Mileage estimates (40,000–80,000 miles for JDM pulls) are estimates based on donor history and typical Japanese driving patterns and are not guaranteed unless a specific verified mileage is listed in writing on your invoice.
- Photos may show a representative engine of the same model. Cosmetic differences, surface rust, dust, or storage marks are normal for used JDM items and are not defects.
- External accessories — such as manifolds, turbos, ECUs, wiring harnesses, sensors, pulleys, mounts, and AC/PS pumps — may or may not be included. Only the items listed on your invoice are included in the sale. Your installer must swap over necessary external components from your original engine/transmission.
3. Warranty Plans & Duration
- Engines (High-Performance/Turbocharged): Covered by a 30-Day Limited Warranty starting from the date of delivery.
- Engines (Standard/Non-Turbo): Covered by a 90-Day Limited Warranty starting from the date of delivery.
- Transmissions: Covered by a 30-90 Day Limited Warranty starting from the date of delivery.
Warranty coverage is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser named on the invoice.
4. What Is Covered
Subject to the conditions in Section 6, this warranty covers failure due to a pre-existing internal defect under normal use:
Engines: cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, cylinder head(s), camshaft(s), valves, valve train, oil pump (internal failure only).
Transmissions (Automatic / Manual): internal hard parts including torque converter (internal failure only), planetary gears, shafts, drums, valve body (internal failure only), synchronizers, internal bearings and gears.
If a covered defect is confirmed during the warranty period, our sole obligation is, at our option, to:
- Supply a replacement engine/transmission of the same type (subject to availability), or
- Supply replacement internal parts, or
- Issue a partial credit or refund for the defective item if a replacement is not available.
5. What Is NOT Covered / Exclusions
This is a parts-only limited warranty. The following are expressly excluded:
- Labor, installation, removal, diagnostics, towing, rental cars, fluids, gaskets, seals, filters, belts, hoses, or shop supplies under any circumstance.
- External / bolt-on accessories and electronics: turbochargers, superchargers, intake/exhaust manifolds, ECU/TCU, wiring, sensors, injectors, coils, distributors, starters, alternators, water pumps, timing components, clutches, flywheels, mounts.
- Damage caused by overheating, low oil / low coolant, oil starvation, detonation, improper fluids, incorrect installation, failure to replace timing belt/water pump/seals, failure to flush cooling system, or failure to service transmission with correct ATF/CVT fluid and filter.
- Modifications, racing, drifting, off-road use, commercial use, overloading, nitrous/turbo upgrades, ECU tuning, or use in a vehicle other than the one specified at purchase.
- Normal wear, carbon buildup, oil consumption within manufacturer tolerance, cosmetic condition, surface rust, or minor oil seepage that does not affect operation.
- Damage in transit after delivery is signed for as undamaged, improper storage, or damage caused by the installer or third-party carrier.
- Any engine or transmission that has been disassembled, machined, or had internal parts replaced without our prior written authorization.
- Overheating-related head gasket / warped head claims where cooling system service cannot be documented.
6. Conditions to Keep Your Warranty Valid (Required)
Failure to meet any of the following voids the warranty:
- Licensed professional installation: Installation must be performed by a licensed repair facility. DIY / home installation voids coverage. Provide the shop’s name, invoice, and license number on request.
- Mandatory replacement before install: New timing belt/timing chain kit, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, oil/filter, coolant, front/rear main seals and valve cover gaskets (engines); new filter and manufacturer-specified fluid plus cooler flush (transmissions).
- Documented service: Keep receipts for all fluids, parts, and labor. Compression/leak-down test results at install may be requested for engine claims.
- Correct application: Item must be installed in the year/make/model it was sold for. Swaps or conversions require prior written approval.
- Timely notice: Notify us by email/phone before removing or disassembling the item, within 48 hours of discovering the issue and within the warranty period. Do not authorize teardown without our written approval — unauthorized teardown voids coverage.
- Retain all parts: Keep the defective item and all original parts available for inspection or return at our request.
7. How to File a Warranty Claim
- Contact us immediately at info@pacificpowertrain.com / +1 562-265-8841 with your order/invoice number, VIN of the vehicle it was installed in, mileage at install and at failure, and a description of the issue.
- Provide documentation: installer invoice, receipts for required new parts/fluids, compression test or diagnostic report from the licensed shop, and clear photos/video of the issue.
- Inspection & authorization: We will review and may require inspection by a third-party shop or return of the item/parts at our direction. Do not ship anything back without a written Return Authorization (RA).
- Resolution: If approved, we will arrange replacement or parts per Section 4. Replacement ships after we receive the defective unit back, or with a refundable core deposit for advance shipment when offered.
Freight for warranty returns/replacements is shared as follows unless otherwise agreed in writing: customer pays return freight to us; we pay freight for the approved replacement to the original delivery address in the contiguous U.S. Freight to HI, AK plus liftgate/residential fees, are the customer’s responsibility.
